VAMBO – VAMBO DeLuxe
Released 06/11/20
GOLIATH Records

The debut album from London-based classic rock band Vambo was first released in October 2019, and has been treated to a re-release with some extra tracks, including an acoustic version of one song, and a live version of one of hard rock’s classics, and is a perfect introduction to yet another exciting new band from the UK, whose material is very much grounded in the great British classic rock sounds of the 1970s and early 1980s, with their own individual take on the genre.

BROTHERS OSBORNE – Skeletons
Released Oct 9th 2020
Spinefarm Records

Better known for smooth and elegant country rock, and the warm, mellow tones of TJ Osborne’s baritone voice, the new album sees the band in the studio with their full stage band for the first time, and the result is a more honest representation of the band seen live, and much more of a rock’n’roll record, full of grit and swagger.

A new album from Joe Bonamassa is generally something to get very excited about – something of a phenomenon in the world of blues and rock guitars in the past 10 years, with his own solo career going stratospheric, as well as a number of collaborations with Beth Hart, the supergroup Black Country Communion, with Glenn Hughes, Jason Bonham and Derek Sherinian, and his most recent side-project, The Sleep Eazys, an instrumental tribute to Danny Gatton.

Album Review : Mike Elrington – Aftershock

Review by Peter Coates – www.facebook.com/InsideEdgePhotography

Mike Elrington has had what most of us would consider a tumultuous couple of years in his personal life, hence the title Aftershock, and that does not include the impacts of the last 6 months thanks to COVID-19 that any musician living in Victoria would have to be suffering.

Album Review : The Allman Betts Band – Bless Your Heart

Review by Peter Coates – www.facebook.com/InsideEdgePhotography

BLESS YOUR HEART – release date 28th August 2020 (BMG Records)

Greg Allman and Dickey Betts were founding members of the great American country rock band The Allman Brothers, and  two of the next generation, Devon Allman and Duane Betts joined forces in 2019 to launch a new album, and tour on the back of that and some of the Allman Brothers greatest hits, being the 50th anniversary of that seminal band.

Devon is also well known for his Royal Southern Brotherhood project with Cyril Neville (Neville Brothers) and Blues Guitar virtuoso Mike Zito.

Matt Pearce is one of the guitarists in high-profile UK classic rock band Voodoo Six, who are about to release their long-awaited new album in October, and before I review that one, having missed out on the London gig for Matt due to COVID-19 in March this year, I wanted to give this one a spin.

Album Review : THE ROCKET DOLLS – The Art of Disconnect

Review by Peter Coates – www.facebook.com/InsideEdgePhotography

I have had this album on regular play for about a month now thanks to our own Josie O’Toole at Rock People Management, and have found it really hard to get a suitable focus on the content of the record in order to write a coherent review.

This is the Brighton (UK) riff-lords third album in their 12-year history, and got released as a result of a successful crowd-funding campaign that initially fell over due to the Pledge crisis, and got revived through the band’s own web-store – and the album was released in May.

Album Review : Massive Wagons – House Of Noise

Review by Peter Coates – www.facebook.com/InsideEdgePhotography

The newest release, their fifth studio album in just over 10 years, from the Lancaster rockers Massive Wagons will be released on 17th July 2020, via Earache Records.  This is another of the NWOCR powerhouse bands who have been laying waste to the UK over the past couple of years with their incendiary brand of ludicrously catchy power-pop rock, punk metal, and the latest offering is again full of crowd-pleasing shoutalong riff-driven songs.
