BECK’s One and Only Harvest Festival Sideshow

BECK
ONLY AUSTRALIAN SIDESHOW

BECK Hansen is at that point in his career where encapsulating all that he’s done and all that he is about, in a few paragraphs, feels both impossible and somewhat irresponsible. But here goes…

In his teens, Beck spent several years on a musical pilgrimage through Europe and into New York’s ‘anti-folk’ scene, before returning to LA where he began releasing his first studio albums. In 1994, at just 24 years old, Beck released ‘Loser’ one of the catchiest, most off-kilter tracks of the decade. It made him famous, ridiculously so but like other great artists before him, it would only be the accumulation of decades of different projects that would enable the true enormity of Beck’s talents to be seen.

Since releasing ‘Mellow Gold’ (the album that contained ‘Loser), Beck has released 8 further studio albums, all of which have taken huge sonic hops, skips and twirls from one to the next, each cementing further his reputation as one of the most enigmatic and indefinable artists of a generation.

Beck’s latest album – ‘BECK HANSEN’S SONG READER – to be released December 2012 is the biggest, most courageous leap yet. Coming out in an almost-forgotten form—twenty songs existing only as individual pieces of sheet music – the songs here are as unfailingly exciting as you’d expect from their author, but if you want to hear them, bringing them to life depends on you.

Simply put, BECK is one of the most critically acclaimed musicians of the 1990s and into the 21st century. An accolade confirmed by the unshaken solidarity of his artistic integrity, whilst simultaneously achieving such enormous commercial success.

Outside of Beck’s headlining Harvest performances, he’ll be doing just one sideshow and one sideshow only. Absolutely not to be missed.
