Spare Parts: The School Competition!

  What is Spare Parts?
Spare Parts is an exhibition being held at the Brisbane Powerhouse from 9th November until 5th December 2010. The opening night is Friday 12th November 2010. Spare Parts will bring together a diverse range of artists all using pre-loved prosthetic limbs as their canvas.

As an exhibition Spare Parts will create and promote about 40 individual pieces of art and parallel to this, a positive and open conversation about prosthetics.

The diversity of artists is a very important component of the exhibition as is their interpretation of each limb. Those involved range from a world class graffiti artist, tattooists, a poet, painters, comic artists, to one of Australia’s most popular up and coming sculptors.

Beyond the traditional scope of “what is art” Spare Parts will also include a fashion designer, a milliner, a jeweller and a cobbler. Continue reading Spare Parts: The School Competition!

DEMI-MONDE @ MOJOs, Fremantle – August 5, 2010

We’ve dusted off the mirror ball, popped the party pies in the oven, disabled the security cameras and warned the neighbours that things are going to get a little crazy. We’re throwing the biggest, bawdiest party since Alf Stewart’s post-Logies bash, and your name is on the door.

For one night only this July, the Judith Wright Centre will be transformed into the hottest nightclub in town for The Brink Party – a magnificent evening of unique physical spectacles and installations created by legendary Australian circus performer Rudi Mineur, star of the recent sell-out season of Briefs.

Laura Imbruglia “I WANNA BE YOUR GIRLFRIEND” video release and Excelsior Hotel August Residency

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away (the NSW Central Coast, to be exact), there lived a little girl called Laura. For all obvious intents and purposes she appeared to be a (fairly) normal little girl. She liked playing elastics, capturing insects, watching Punky Brewster and roller-skating round in circles on the driveway.
