The Black Eyed Peas create ARIA Singles Chart history

The Black Eyed Peas remain unbeatable on the ARIA Singles Chart this week, as they achieve their seventh week straight in the number one spot with “I Gotta Feeling”. It’s the band’s thirteenth consecutive week on top of the chart (something that hasn’t been achieved in sixty-two years) and gives the band their longest running number one single in Australia as it surpasses the six weeks at the top achieved by both “Where Is The Love” and “Boom Boom Pow”. “I Gotta Feeling” also remains on top of the ARIA Digital Track Chart for seven consecutive weeks.

Michael Jackson continues to impact the ARIA Album Chart this week, taking out the top two spots despite the fact that he has dropped out of the top 40 on the singles chart. “The Essential Michael Jackson” enters its sixth week on top of the album chart, making it only the second album this year to achieve such a feat. “The Collection”, a box set of Michael’s five big original albums, jumps a massive fourteen spots to number 2. Seven Michael Jackson titles remain in the top 40 on the ARIA Album Chart.

This week sees David Guetta move from strength to strength as he achieves his second ARIA Singles Chart top 10 single with “Sexy Bitch” (feat. Akon), which jumps a huge twelve spots to No.2 in its second week in the chart. “When Love Takes Over” (feat. Kelly Rowland) peaked at No.6 and spent a total of four weeks in the top 10.

In further ARIA Singles Chart news, The Gossip cracks the top 10 this week with their first hit “Heavy Cross” up four spots to number 7 after five weeks in the chart. Rob Thomas‘ “Her Diamonds” and Kelly Clarkson’s “Already Gone” both jump six spots, hitting #13 and #15 respectively while “Forever” by Chris Brown shoots up eleven spots to #17. Mariah Carey is a big mover this week, with “Obsessed” shooting up a massive thirteen spots to #20 and entering the top 20 for the first time. “Evacuate The Dancefloor” by Cascada climbs nine spots to #22 while “Good Girls Go Bad” by Cobra Starship feat. Leighton Meester makes an impressive debut at #29.

Following his Australian promotional tour, Rob Thomas‘ album “Cradlesong” reaches a new peak on the ARIA Album Chart this week, jumping five spots to No.3. Homegrown pop sweetheart Lisa Mitchell makes an impressive debut at #6 with her first chart album “Wonder”, Lily Allen‘s former number one album “It’s Not Me, It’s You” is up one spot to #11 after twenty six weeks in the chart, and P!nk‘s “I’m Not Dead” moves up three spots to #18.

Slight movement can be seen in the ARIA Digital Track Chart this week with “Sexy Bitch” by David Guetta feat. Akon up ten spots to #2. Taylor Swift remains at #6 with “You Belong With Me” while The Gossip’s “Heavy Cross” move up two spots to #7. Michael Jackson holds strong on the ARIA Music DVD Chart with “#1’s” and “Live In Bucharest: The Dangerous Tour” sitting at No.1 and 2 respectively while P!nk takes out positions 3 and 4 with “Live From Wembley Arena” and “P!nk – Live In Europe”.
