Iyaz triumphs on ARIA Singles & Digital Track Charts as Susan Boyle’s dream run continues

Hailing from the British Virgin Islands, Iyaz swoops on the ARIA Singles Chart number one spot this week with the hit tune “Replay”, emulating his UK success and knocking Owl City‘s “Fireflies” from its five-week run at the top. The single also blasts to the top of the ARIA Digital Track Chart. Susan Boyle’s “I Dreamed A Dream” meanwhile achieves its eleventh consecutive week at the peak of the ARIA Album Chart. It matches the 2001 chart-topping run of the Moulin Rouge soundtrack, with the self-titled debut release from homegrown duo Savage Garden the most recent album to eclipse this tally, accruing twelve weeks straight at number one in 1997.

“Little Lion Man” from Mumford & Sons creeps up two spots to #3 on the ARIA Singles Chart, as Ke$ha rounds out the top 5 with “Blah Blah Blah” and “Tik Tok” in positions 4 and 5 respectively. Jay Sean scores his second ARIA top 10 single as “Do You Remember?” moves from 12 and 10, and David Guetta achieves his third with “Memories”, which jumps five spots to #9 this week. The track, featuring Kid Cudi, follows his 2009 number one smash “Sexy Bitch” (featuring Akon) and “When Love Takes Over” (featuring Kelly Rowland), which peaked at #6 late last year. The catchy collaboration sees Kid Cudi eclipse the previous chart peak of #15 achieved by his debut single “Day N Night” last year.

In further ARIA Singles Chart news, “Morning After Dark” from Timbaland (featuring Nelly Furtado & SoShy) climbs eight spots to #19, Rihanna‘s “Rude Boy” claims a #23 debut, and “I Like That” from Richard Vission & Static Revenger (featuring Luciana) makes a whopping move from #37 to 27. British favourites Mumford & Sons debut at #36 with their new single “The Cave”, with “Baby” from Justin Bieber (featuring Ludacris) entering at #37 and indie hit “Home” from Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros debuting at #40.

Off the back of last week’s Grammy Awards haul, Taylor Swift returns to the ARIA Album Chart top 10 this week, jumping five spots to #7 with the four times platinum release “Fearless”, chalking up an incredible thirty-eight weeks in the top 10. Her top 10 run is set to continue as her ‘Fearless’ world tour makes its way around Australia in the coming weeks. “Lungs”, the debut release from UK act Florence & The Machine continues to work its way up the chart, climbing seven spots to #12 as Groove Armada’s new release “Black Light” claims a #17 debut. Just below is Sarah Blasko‘s “As Day Follows Night”, which shoots from #26 to 18. Further top 40 debuts this week come from Rob Zombie, with “Hellbilly Deluxe 2” at #23 and “One Life Stand” from Hot Chip at #27. In the country for select East Coast shows, American surfer legends The Beach Boys enter the top 40 at #38 with their greatest hits compilation “Sounds Of Summer: The Very Best Of The Beach Boys”, as the self-titled debut album from English trio The XX scores an impressive #40 debut.

The top 5 positions on the ARIA Digital Track Chart mirror the singles chart this week. “Memories” from David Guetta (featuring Kid Cudi) blasts into the top 10, moving from #14 to 7, Muse achieves a top ten result with “Undisclosed Desires” at #9 and The Temper Trap‘s “Sweet Disposition” climbs four spots to #14. “Morning After Dark” from Timbaland (featuring Nelly Furtado & SoShy) jumps seven spots to #19, “Tik Tok (Parody)” from The Midnight Beast is up nine spots to #20 and Rihanna‘s “Rude Boy” shoots up a massive eighteen spots to #21.

In further news, P!nk‘s “Funhouse” continues its chart-topping run on the ARIA Music DVD Chart, accumulating seventeen consecutive weeks at the summit and eclipsing her 2007 sixteen-week tally for “Live At Wembley Arena”.
