Bursting forth from Ottawa Canada, world-renowned native Producer/DJ crew A Tribe Called Red, who are Ian “DJ NDN” Campeau, Tim “2oolman” Hill and Bear Witness, today announce their third studio album We Are The Halluci Nation, set for release worldwide on the 16th of September. Today the clique gifts us with their brand new single ‘R.E.DFeat. Yasiin Bey Formerly known as Mos Def), Narcy (Snippet) and Black Bear, which got its first spin overnight on Beats 1 with EBRO.

Narcy commented on the track stating, “I think it is the first time in history where you have an African, an Iraqi and the Indigenous of Canada are on one song. It’s an important breaking in culture, we are coming together to counter the narratives built around the history of our communities and showing the power of our people combined. It feels like the beginning of something new and old, the rebirth after many injustices”

We’ve already had a taste of the album, in the form of singles ‘Stadium Pow Wow’ Feat. Black Bear & ‘We Are the Halluci Nation’, which features the poetry of Santee Dakota activist, artist and actor John Trudell. Trudell coined the name Halluci Nation, and his poetry and concepts appear throughout the album.

We Are The Halluci Nation is an invitation to anyone who is feeling dissatisfied with the current state of our post-colonial world to join a Tribe Called Red in building the “Halluci Nation” – an international community of like minded people dedicated to eradicating the lingering effects of colonialism of which you might already be part of. We Are The Halluci Nation includes a number of noteworthy collaborations, ranging from hip-hop star Yasiin Bey (AKA Mos Def) to Saul Williams, Colombian visual artist and musician Lido Pimienta, native musicians Black Bear and Tanya Tagaq, plus the Swedish-Sami singer Maxida Marak and our homegrown legends OKA.

The album announce follows the group’s May 2015 EP release, Suplex and their first ever Australian tour, where the trio played an extensive run of mind blowing shows down the east-coast, as well as appearing at Australian Music Week with an incredibly special performance at Homeground, an indigenous dance and music festival at the Sydney Opera House.
