Karnivool debuts at #2 with their album “Sound Awake”.

The Black Eyed Peas debut at number one on this week’s ARIA Album Chart with their new album “THE E.N.D”, earning the group their third ARIA #1 album following “Elephunk” in 2004 and “Monkey Business” in 2005. Their single “Boom Boom Pow” spends its fifth week at one on the ARIA Singles Chart and sixth on top of the digital track chart, becoming their second longest running singles chart topper behind “Where Is The Love” which chalked up six weeks in 2003.

Black Eyed Peas have accumulated 19 weeks at the top of the ARIA charts this decade, just behind Eminem with 21 weeks. “I Gotta Feeling”, the second single to be lifted from “THE E.N.D”, also impacts the charts this week debuting at #8 on the singles chart and #5 on the digital track chart, giving the group their tenth consecutive top 10 single. Black Eyed Peas become only the fourth group to have multiple consecutive number one singles and albums, in company with The Beatles, ABBA and The Rolling Stones, with “Boom Boom Pow” and “THE E.N.D” following “Don’t Phunk With My Heart” and “Monkey Business” which topped the charts on 6th June 2005.

In further ARIA Singles Chart news this week, it’s the girls making the moves in the top 10. Lily Allen jumps three places to #3 with “Not Fair”, Miley Cyrus is up from 8 to 5 with “The Climb”, P!nk is up a spot to #6 with “Bad Influence” and Kelly Clarkson hits a high point of #9 with “I Do Not Hook Up”, moving into the top 10 from #15. Other singles making their presence felt include Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi” up from 27 to 14, Dizzee Rascal & Armand Van Helden with “Bonkers” moving up 7 spots to #21 and Flo Rida featuring Wynter with “Sugar” up from 31 to 22, whilst P!nk’s former number one single “So What” makes a return to the top 40, landing at #33.

With Black Eyed Peas taking over #1 spot on the ARIA Album Chart this week, Perth band Karnivool debuts behind them at #2 with their third album “Sound Awake”. Placebo scores a second Australian top 10 album as “Battle For The Sun” debuts at #8, with UK band Kasabian debuting just outside the top 10, with “West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum” at #11.

As her “Funhouse” tour rolls on, P!nk lands her five albums in the ARIA Album Chart top 30 this week, with “I’m Not Dead” re-entering the top 10 at number ten for the first time since September 2007 in its 160th week in the chart. It has now spent 70 weeks in the top 10! Following his recent visit to our shores, Seal hits the top 20 with “Soul” at #16 this week, and as their Australian tour approaches, Simon & Garfunkel have two albums on an upwards trajectory – “The Essential Simon & Garfunkel” up from 29 to 21 and “Old Friends: Live On Stage” up 10 spots to #26. Katy Perry’s “One of The Boys” also moves up ten places this week, hitting #22 after 39 weeks of release. There are a further four albums debuting in the top 40 this week including Taking Back Sunday with “New Again” at #31 – their previous album, 2006’s “Louder Now”, achieved a high point of #17. They are followed by Daniel Merriweather’s UK #2 album “Love & War” at 32, Eels with “Hombre Lobo” at 35, their highest charting album to date, and Paolo Nutini with “Sunny Side Up” at 39, the follow up to 2007’s “These Streets” which peaked at #16.

This week’s ARIA Digital Track Chart sees Black Eyed Peas holding at #1 with “Boom Boom Pow” and Rob Thomas at #2 with “Her Diamonds”, with P!nk moving up from 6 to 3 with “Bad Influence”. P!nk takes over the top two spots on this week’s ARIA Music DVD chart, with “Live From Wembley Arena” holding at one and “P!nk – Live In Europe” moving up from 3 to 2.
