THE DYNAMITES (USA) featuring Charles Walker– BURN IT DOWN! – AUSTRALIAN TOUR NOVEMBER 2011

Direct from Nashville, Tennessee, please welcome The Dynamites, straight-up, badass deep funk and super soul!

Making a sensational Australian debut at the Byron Bay Blues Festival in 2010, US funk masters The Dynamites featuring Charles Walker were quickly summoned back to these fair shores at the beginning of this year to play key festival dates and venues – most notably smoking it up for 35,000 party goers at Sydney Festival’s “First Night”.

Peats Ridge and Woodford Festival-goers also got to experience first-hand the white hot dance floor funk and smooth Southern soul that have placed The Dynamites at the vanguard of the new soul movement.

Their recent album BURN IT DOWN has something to say about life right now. >From its raw opening notes, it wastes no time getting to the gritty heart of the matter. Punctuated by staccato horn section bursts and Walker’s intense proclamation that “it’s been a long time coming,” the vibe evokes the ominous flames of incendiary times.

The super tight 7 piece band is fronted by Charles Walker, Nashville native and veteran of the scene that gave rise to the birth of funk in the early 70’s in New York. Charles opened for the likes of James Brown, Wilson Pickett, Etta James and Jackie Wilson and performed countless times at legendary venues such as the Apollo in Harlem and recorded highly collectable 45’s for Chess and Decca Records.

The band is back for another whirlwind visit, sandwiched between US and European commitments, including festival appearances at Queenscliff Music Festival and Mullumbimby Music Festival.

You better watch the dance floor for these guys, expect a furious and unrelenting barrage of stripped-down, rhythmic R&B, funk and swinging soul.

The Dynamites featuring Charles Walker have two albums released in Australia BURN IT DOWN & KABOOM! Both released by Top Shelf & Distributed via MGM.
