Young The Giant – Self titled release out, performing at Splendour in The Grass 2011

So who are Young The Giant? Young the Giant write the sort of soaring, melodic rock ‘n’ roll that has punters asking ‘who are these guys’ the very first time they hear them. Hailing from Southern California, to begin writing for their self titled debut, the five members moved into a house together on the ocean in Newport Beach, which they say provided inspiration for their self titled

album: the concept of an endless, eternal summer, of youthfulness and doing what you love most. The band lived on the beach for about seven months, then relocated to a West Hollywood where they began working with producer Joe Chiccarelli, whose work for artists like the White Stripes, the Raconteurs and My Morning Jacket they admired (My Morning Jacket’s Bo Koster actually guests on keys on several of the album’s tracks).

After putting in a stellar performance at the 2011 South By Southwest, Young The Giant are set to spread their sundrenched sound to Australia for Splendour In the Grass, ready to be discovered by a whole new nation of music fans.
