BRING ME THE HORIZON DEBUTS AT #1 ON ARIA CHARTS

In an industry where times are tough and naysayers are plentiful, Shock Records has recently seen stalwart acts, defiant of trends and gimmicks rise to the forefront. Just three months ago Byron Bay band Parkway Drive stormed the ARIA charts to arrive at a number two debut. To many it was an unexpected ambush but at Shock we have no reservations about the power of the punk/hardcore releases that we have become so well known for.

So it is with great delight that we announce that Sheffield metalcore band Bring Me The Horizon’s THERE IS A HELL BELIEVE ME IVE SEEN IT, THERE IS A HEAVEN LETS KEEP IT A SECRET has secured the NUMBER ONE position on this week’s ARIA Chart, thus delivering Shock Records it’s third ever ARIA number one album (The Offspring’s seminal punk rock release Smash, being the first).

The band’s frontman Oli Sykes recently commented:

“The band are in total awe. To have a number one album, in a country we don’t even live in, is amazing. We feel like David Hasslehoff now. He’s big in Germany, were big in Oz. But seriously, thankyou to our fans in Australia. We are beyond stoked and now we just can’t wait for Soundwave. Shit is gonna be off the hook.”

Though this chart once again comes as a surprise to many, Bring Me The Horizon’s have been making serious waves for several years now. Their youthful exuberance and onstage energy saw them slink beyond the UK and comfortably into European, American and indeed Australian markets, 2008’s breakthrough Suicide Season album established the band’s signature sound and allowed the five-piece to shake off the shackles of genre pigeonholes. An ensuing headlining Australian tour promptly sold out huge venues across the country and confirmed what we already knew; things were about to blow up.

Though their most recent tour saw them supporting Welsh powerhouse Bullet For My Valentine, the band’s knockout performance (this time joined by new member and Australian hardcore alumni Jona Weinhofen) and the crowd’s unbridled enthusiasm paved the way for a spectacular album debut.

Tim Janes ,General Manager of Shock commented:

“It’s incredibly gratifying working with partners such as Visible Noise and Raw Power Management and delivering on an act like Bring Me The Horizon’s. There may be little airplay or broadcast video play to speak of but the band have developed a rabid fan base in Australia from drop-dead great live shows and getting close to their fans through in-store signings and the recent secret Myspace Secret Show. An amazing result- for Shock we have had some huge selling albums from the likes of Bloc Party, The Prodigy, White Stripes, Jose Gonzales, Parkway Drive, Phoenix- all gold plus selling albums but none have been able to claim the coveted Number One ARIA chart spot like these kids from Sheffield.”

There Is A Hell Believe Me I’ve Seen It, There Is A Heaven Let’s Keep It A Secret is out now through Shock/Visible Noise.
